Geologist/Environmental Scientist/Engineer (Farmington, NM)
Animas Environmental Services has an opening for a Mid-Level Professional Geologist or Environmental Engineer to oversee all stages of project operations from creating cost estimates and submitting bids, carrying out scope of work and overseeing team member tasks, maintaining deadlines and managing budgets, and meeting with clients and vendors, to submitting final reports. The successful candidate will have prior experience overseeing submittal deadlines and managing multiple projects.
The position requires a background in training and supervising field staff paired with a willingness to work in varied field conditions. Strong writing, report review, and communication skills are required. The candidate will need to demonstrate a prior background in successful teamwork, organizational management, and prompt client service. The applicant must have documented strong experience in the oil and gas industry and leaking underground storage tank (UST) sites; a background in environmental release response and investigation; and knowledge of industry regulations. The desired applicant will have previous remediation experience and the ability to design remediation systems and operate remediation equipment. Experience with radiological mine and mine related waste, and a knowledge base of radiological material handling is highly desired.
The position requires a minimum BS in Geology, Hydrology, Environmental Science, or Engineering (EIT), with an MS, PG or PE preferred. A minimum of 5 years of experience is required, with 10 years preferred. The person filling this position will be required to lift and carry 30 lbs. of equipment; use a hand auger; and expect 50% of their time to be in the field in potentially adverse weather conditions on uneven terrain in high altitude.

Skills required: background in natural gas fired and electric soil and groundwater remediation equipment at oil/gas production facilities. Familiarity with standard oil and gas compression and automation operations, maintenance, and troubleshooting. Valid driver’s license and clean driving record. AS or BS in an environmental field preferred.
Skills required: produces map outputs, and creates figures and tables for projects including quarterly monitoring and BGT closure reports. Records field notes and communicates with Project Managers. Ability to operate GPS for field mapping. AutoCAD, GIS, and Environmental Software experience. Associate Degree or higher and 2+ years’ experience.
Entry Level Geologist/Environmental Scientist
Skills required: collects soil, groundwater and surface water samples; evaluates field data and writes technical reports; prepares environmental permitting and compliance; and performs environmental site assessments. Strong communication skills and ability to work well in a team environment. Requires a minimum AS or BS in Environmental Science, Geology, Engineering or related field with BA or BS preferred.
Environmental Field Technician
Skills required: Assists with assessment/investigations of soil and groundwater for petroleum releases. Operates screening equipment including OVM, PTH analyzer, and mercury vapor meter. Navigates on oil and gas access roads and locates remote well sites using GPS. Strong communication skills and ability to work well in a team environment. Minimum BS degree in Environmental Science, Geology or Engineering, with documented 2+ years’ experience.
Skills required: prepares Storm Water Management Plans. Manages UST projects with the NMED-PSTB. Has routine interaction with clients and local, tribal, state, and federal agencies. Strong oil and gas industry experience. Knowledge of environmental release response and investigation and industry regulations. Strong writing skills and ability to monitor and control costs. Requires a B.S. or higher in Geology with PG preferred, and 5+ years’ experience.
Skills required: working knowledge of environmental regulations and compliance. Prepares Phase I Initial Site Assessments. Ability to lead and supervise staff and projects along with creating and monitoring budgets. Proficiency required in MS Word and Excel. Strong writing skills. B.S. or higher in Environmental Engineering, EIT or PE preferred, and 5+ years’ experience.
