Animas Environmental Services (AES) is a small, busy company with two office locations, one in Farmington, NM and another in Durango, CO. AES has been in business for 15 years and provides a smaller, friendlier environment than some of our large competitors. We offer a chance to work on a wide variety of projects including environmental permitting and planning; site investigation and remediation; stormwater management for construction; and environmental monitoring and sampling. AES’ client base includes private industry, state, local and federal governments, and tribal entities.

We are located in the Four Corners Area (nationally known for great biking, hiking, fishing, rafting, skiing, snowboarding, and touring of historic and prehistoric sites). The region is also known for having affordable residential areas with good school ratings and critically acclaimed restaurants and music venues. 

Environmental Technician
Part Time to Full Time depending on qualifications. Position based in the Farmington, New Mexico office.  Requires a minimum of A.S. degree and 2 to 3 years documented field experience with environmental sampling at oil and gas locations and contaminated sites.  Experience in collecting soil, sediment, groundwater, and surface water samples for laboratory analysis, as well as operating environmental field equipment. Must be familiar with San Juan Basin and be able to navigate roads using maps and GPS. 40 OSHA certification required.  DOT drug and alcohol testing required.

Staff Environmental Scientist
Part Time to Full Time depending on qualifications. Position based in the Farmington, New Mexico office. Requires a minimum of B.S. degree in environmental science, geology, or environmental chemistry/engineering and 3 to 5 years documented experience with all types of stormwater sampling, inspection, and project tracking of construction, industrial, and municipal storm water projects under various regulatory authorities. Must be proficient in management of sampling data and technical writing. Must be able to mobilize quickly from Farmington, New Mexico to sample locations (within 30 miles). 40 OSHA certification required.  DOT drug and alcohol testing required.

Remediation Technician
Skills required: background in natural gas fired and electric soil and groundwater remediation equipment at oil/gas production facilities. Familiarity with standard oil and gas compression and automation operations, maintenance, and troubleshooting. Valid driver’s license and clean driving record. AS or BS in an environmental field preferred.

Environmental Drafter
Skills required: produces map outputs, and creates figures and tables for projects including quarterly monitoring and BGT closure reports. Records field notes and communicates with Project Managers. Ability to operate GPS for field mapping. AutoCAD, GIS, and Environmental Software experience. Associate Degree or higher and 2+ years’ experience.

Environmental Field Technician
Skills required: assists with assessment/investigations of soil and groundwater for petroleum releases. Operates screening equipment including OVM, PTH analyzer, and mercury vapor meter. Navigates on oil and gas access roads and locates remote well sites using GPS.  Strong communication skills and ability to work well in a team environment. Minimum BS degree in Environmental Science, Geology or Engineering, with documented 2+ years’ experience.

Field Geologist
Skills required: prepares Storm Water Management Plans. Manages UST projects with the NMED-PSTB. Has routine interaction with clients and local, tribal, state, and federal agencies. Strong oil and gas industry experience. Knowledge of environmental release response and investigation and industry regulations. Strong writing skills and ability to monitor and control costs. Requires a B.S. or higher in Geology with PG preferred, and 5+ years’ experience.

Environmental Engineer
Skills required: working knowledge of environmental regulations and compliance. Prepares Phase I Initial Site Assessments.  Ability to lead and supervise staff and projects along with creating and monitoring budgets. Proficiency required in MS Word and Excel. Strong writing skills. B.S. or higher in Environmental Engineering, EIT or PE preferred, and 5+ years’ experience.  

Geologist/Environmental Scientist/Engineer
Skills required: background in training and supervising field staff. Strong writing, report review, and communication skills. Demonstrated abilities in successful teamwork, organizational management, and prompt client service. Strong experience in the oil and gas industry and leaking underground storage tank (UST) sites. Background in environmental release response and investigation, with knowledge of industry regulations. Oversee all stages of project operations from creating cost estimates and submitting bids; carrying out scope of work and overseeing team member tasks; maintaining deadlines and managing budgets; and meeting with clients and vendors; to submitting final reports.  Previous remediation experience and the ability to design remediation systems and operate remediation equipment a plus. Experience with radiological mine and mine related waste, and a knowledge base of radiological material handling is highly desired. BS in Geology, Hydrology, Environmental Science, or Engineering (EIT), with an MS, PG or PE preferred paired with 5-10 years of experience.
